The History of Inspwire Wire Sculptures
Inspwire began in 1998, and the Bender Vender, Dillon Markey,
has been creating unique and wonderful wire sculptures ever since.
Inspired predominantly by the mobile and kinetic work of Alexander
Calder, Dillon strives to create elaborate machines to achieve
more realistic and simple diaramic animations.
The Bender Vender has been seen at markets in Washington DC and
Los Angeles and has sold hundreds of sculptures, both small and
large to a vast clientele. He has been awarded commissions to
replicate popular bands, create custom sculptures and portraits
for celebrity clients like Kurt Vonnegut,
Tenacious D, and Mandy from
Temptation Island 1.
Dillon Markey is currently in Los Angeles, working on his biggest
wire sculpture commission yet. He also was recently accepted to
the Cal Arts Experimental Animation MFA program for the Fall of
2005-2006.
Keep on the lookout for gallery shows because Dillon really needs
to figure out how to afford school. |
